The only thing I will say is that, like the old Mandrake rules, perhaps there should be a time limit or situation when you have to reveal the real model, perhaps when he gets into close combat or something?
It also reminds me of a blog I read where the guy had written rules for Alpharius that let him move from unit to unit each turn no matter how far apart they were as it turns out who the enemy thought from Alpharius actually wasn't! That could seriously mess with your opponents head...
Those rules were apocalypse only though.

It kind of reminds me of the Ymgarl Genestealers in how you have to note something at the beginning of the game, and that depending on your luck it can work out perfectly, or not at all.
